Just Us Computers

The problem with interfacing with people through computers is that you can only do things that the computer system is designed to do. If you try to do something outside of the bounds of the system, then you have to do it through a different channel or are unable to do it entirely. This makes these ways of communications prone to failure when you are trying to do something outside of the known path that nobody thought about.

With more and more interaction relying on computer systems and not on people we are unable to deal with each other as people and have to rely what type of interaction the computer allows.

This happens in online commerce, customer relations, technical support, etc.

At some point one will try something and fail using the computer system, then they will give up and go back to the old manual methods, phone calls, mailing, visiting in person, paying with cash etc.  Those methods are been given away in favor of the new and more efficient computer, which instead of being more efficient and allowing time and space for new things to be done, they are actually be reducing the possibilities available.
